Delete your account

You can request account deletion in either of two ways:

• In the app: open the Account tab and tap Delete account. This starts a deletion request to our support team.
• By email: send a request from the email address on your account to [email protected] with the subject "Delete my Vtu9ja account".

To help us verify ownership and locate your account, please include your username and the phone number or email registered on the account. For your security we may ask you to confirm a few account details before we proceed.

When your deletion request is processed, we permanently remove the personal data we hold about you, including:

• Your account profile — name, username, email and phone number.
• Any identity-verification (KYC) details such as BVN/NIN you provided.
• Saved beneficiaries and personal preferences.
• Your login credentials and device sign-in data.

Some information cannot be deleted immediately and is retained for a limited period where the law requires it or to protect both parties:

• Transaction records needed to meet financial, anti-fraud, tax and regulatory obligations are retained for the period required by applicable law, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
• Records related to an unresolved dispute, chargeback or outstanding balance are kept until the matter is settled.

Retained records are kept secure and are not used for any other purpose.

If your wallet has a remaining balance, please withdraw or use it before requesting deletion. Once an account is deleted it cannot be recovered, and any remaining balance is handled in line with our terms.

We acknowledge deletion requests within a few business days and complete eligible deletions within 30 days of verifying your request, except for the limited records we are legally required to keep (described above). Deletion is permanent and the account cannot be restored afterwards.
